Dental Group of Amarillo, a network of six dental and orthodontic facilities in Amarillo, Dumas, and Canyon in Texas, has agreed to pay $1,000,000 to settle a class action lawsuit filed in response to a 2023 cyberattack and data breach. A lawsuit (Barham v. Dental Group of Amarillo, LLP) filed in the District Court for the 251st Judicial District, Potter County, Texas, alleged negligence for failing to safeguard personally identifiable information (PII) and protected health information (PHI). Dental Group of Amarillo maintains there was no wrongdoing, but agreed to a settlement.
